Bintan Resorts has signed an MoU with International Golden Shipping, the Pasir Gudang Ferry Terminal operator in Johor Bahru, Malaysia. The agreement signifies opening a direct ferry route between Johor Bahru and Bintan Resorts. This will significantly increase regional tourism, increase accessibility, and convert Bintan into one of the top tourist destinations.
Tourists, especially those from Malaysia and the surrounding areas, will find this new ferry route more convenient and smooth as it cuts down on travel time. The strategic initiative is anticipated to significantly increase Bintan’s tourism traffic, supporting Malaysia’s and Indonesia’s growth goals.
Several high-ranking officials attended the ceremony, including Khairul Firdaus Akbar Khan, Malaysia’s Deputy Minister of Tourism, Arts, and Culture, and Sigit Suryantoro Widiyanto, the Consul General of Indonesia in Johor Bahru. The regional commitment to strengthening collaboration in tourism and culture was further highlighted by the presence of Guntur Sakti, Head of the Riau Islands Provincial Tourism Office.
The ferry service is expected to start in December 2024 and cater to many travellers, including leisure travellers, business tourists, and holidaymakers, from across Southeast Asia.
